This Reading Journal Thingy Mrs. Oles is Making Us Do: Benjy's Chapter

Benjy's 17 Points (like Woodrow Wilson's 14 points, but Benjy has 17)
  • Benji is turning 33 the Saturday before Easter Day, and 33 was the age Christ died at (yes, I know Mrs. Oles already made this point but it's very insightful and I trust that she knows what she's talking about)
  • Caddy and golf course
  • Luster seems like the kind of guy who likes to mess with Benjy.  It seems everyone is mean and judging of Benjy except Caddy.  Man Benjy's family are jerks.
  • Benjy loves to bellow--especially when he hears Caddy's name
  • Benjy describes being taller than Luster as having a "longer shadow"= taller person
  • Benjy's mother is so mean to Benjy! Says he is a "judgment".  And plus, the mother seems to always get angry at just a little ruckus.  She is definitely short tempered...
  • "Crying pigs"--since when can pigs be sentimental!!
  • Benjy smells cold on his hands, but you can't smell cold.  But wait, he's Benjy so maybe he can smell cold because maybe winter smells different than summer...
  • Benjy is only happy when Caddy smells like "leaves".  Why leaves?  Strange.
  • Jason's hands in his pockets.  Why I believe that is a symbol, I honestly have no idea.  I'm making assumptions again, dont' be mad Mrs. Oles
  • Roskus' house "has no luck" because "his name was changed here."  Okay...
  • Quentin is both a guy and a girl.  Honestly Faulkner your book was confusing enough...
  • On top of that, girl Quentin is just a big fat jerk.  She's one of those characters you want to punch in the mouth...
  • Jason is a freaking crybaby #lame
  • Benjy was named Maury until they found out he was mentally handicapped and then they named him Benjy, Caddy tries to convince him his name is Benjy
  • Cushions calm Benjy down.  Of all things...
  • Dark comes in smooth, flowing shapes=Benjy falling asleep
